Are You Hearing God's Call?

- Is God calling you to serve as a Sister of Providence?
- How do you know if you are called?

Listening to that special call is a great joy, but it?s not always easy. For some women, it takes time to fully understand and make the final commitment to say, "Yes!" For others, there is no question about the call from the very beginning.

Every sister?s vocation story is different, but each responded fully and willingly to serve our Provident God and God?s people as a vowed woman religious.

Becoming a Sister of Providence in the New Millennium

The women who choose to become Sisters of Providence today bring with them the collective experiences of several lifetimes: college degrees, professional work experiences, sometimes motherhood and, almost always, years of service given to others.

They are of all ages.

They come from the United States and many other countries, representing diverse cultures and backgrounds.

All are looking for a life that leads to a deeper relationship with God, living in community, and ministering to society?s most vulnerable.

Formation begins when a woman answers a call to religious life and continues until she professes final vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.

During this journey, she is supported by the entire religious community. But she is especially guided by the Formation Team, Sisters of Providence selected to accompany a woman as she first discerns her vocation, and then seeks deeper insight and understanding within religious life.
